About BuddyPress Media Component

BuddyPress media component adds multimedia features to your BuddyPress based social network, so that your members can upload/share photos, videos and audio with their friends.

This component uses Kaltura.com’s server for processing & storing multimedia files. Kaltura.com provide a free account with 1GB monthly bandwidth. Any usage above it will be charged by Kaltura.

Our component supports Kaltura-CE also. Kaltura-CE is open-source package provided by Kaltura which can turn your webserver into video server so that your users files will be processed and stored on your webserver. As in this case, you are using your own server, you will be only limited by your webhosting plan in terms of storage and monthly bandwidth.

With time, we will keep adding more and more features to this component.

About Us

BuddyPress media component is an open-source project by rtCamp Solutions Pvt. Ltd. rtCamp is a company which provides all kind of WordPress services and runs rtBlogs – a blog network which is highly popular in India.

This project is lead by Kapil Gonge, famously known as techkapil is BuddyPress community with full-time help from Ashish Anand.

Why we created this?

We believe any social networks is incomplete without media-rich features like photos & videos sharing.

As a WordPress services’ company, BuddyPress is our natural choice when it comes to creating social-networks for our clients. But we were having tough time convincing our clients to go with BuddyPress as it lacks media-rich features that they eagerly wanted.

What started as project for our clients initially went on to become our first major open-source project.
